Bridges is committed to the long-term success of motivated Baltimore City Youth and to providing life changing volunteer opportunities for independent school students. We fulfill this mission through 13 years of multifaceted support for Baltimore City students and year-round volunteer opportunities for independent school students, as detailed below.

Student Experience

Bridges currently supports the long-term success of 272 motivated Baltimore City youth ages 9-23 via its sites at St. Paul’s School (est. 1993) and at Gilman School (est. 2014). Rising 4th grade students enter the program from eight Baltimore City Public Schools in northeast Baltimore.

Over their 13 years in the program, students receive access to a year-round support system with four key components: (1) summer programs, (2) school-year programs, (3) middle, high school, and post-high school guidance support, and (4) one-on-one academic and social support.

Volunteer Experience

Bridges currently works with 182 high school students from the St. Paul’s Schools, Gilman School, Bryn Mawr School, and Roland Park Country School who collectively provide more than 8,800 hours of service each year to Bridges’ elementary and middle school students as after-school tutors and assistant camp counselors.

Bridges offers independent school volunteers year-round opportunities to build relationships with students in Bridges. These relationships lay the foundation for a more connected, equitable, and inclusive Baltimore-metro area.
