News & Announcements

A hallmark of the way St. Paul's prepares its graduates for life in an ever-changing world is the personalized, individual attention that we provide every student throughout their time at the School.
On September 28, St. Paul's celebrated Martin D. "Mitch" Tullai and the 50-plus years he served St. Paul's as a teacher, coach and all-around role model for hundreds of students. The School was delighted to announce the creation of the Martin D. Tullai Scholar-Athlete Scholarship, started in honor of Mr. Tullai by a group of alumni grateful for the impact he has had on their lives.

Head of School Search Update - 05/02/2012
Posted 05/01/2012 01:00AM

Dear St. Paul’s School Community,

As part of the Headmaster Search Committee’s ongoing commitment to keep you informed about the search for our new Headmaster, I write to provide a brief update as we approach the end of the 2011-12 school year. The search process is essentially divided into 3 phases: the “Evaluatory Phase,” during which we hired consultants and gathered information about what we want in our next Headmaster; the “Candidate Solicitation Phase,” in which we are now advertising the position and soliciting qualified applicants; and finally the “Selection Phase,” when we will bring final candidates to campus for interviews, culminating in the Board selecting the next Headmaster.

In late March I shared with you that the Search Committee had completed our first assignment, hiring Jim Bonney and Jim Maggart of Educators’ Collaborative (EC) as search consultants to assist in recruiting our next Headmaster. Messrs. Bonney and Maggart visited St. Paul’s during April and met with a wide range of representatives of our community, including students, parents, alumni, faculty, administrators and trustees. In addition, they attended a Chapel service and St. Paul’s Stories. Their visit, combined with information gathered by the Search Committee – including well over 100 responses to the online survey – has provided great insight about our School community and the kind of educational leader we seek. We are now beginning to advertise our position nationally. A copy of the document EC will circulate to prospective candidates is available for your perusal in the libraries of the Lower, Middle, and Upper School.

In other words, we have completed the Evaluatory Phase and entered the Candidate Solicitation Phase. Our consultants at EC have started soliciting qualified candidates, and will do so until the cutoff date of August 10. If any member of our community has a candidate they think ought to be considered, I welcome recommendations we can forward to our consultants. Of course, you may also encourage worthy candidates to apply directly to EC at http://www.educatorscollaborative.com.  Our goal is to select our new Headmaster before the end of October.

As always, your feedback is encouraged and appreciated.

Sincerely,

Louis Sarkes
