Advisory Program at St. Paul's Helps Students Thrive
Posted 05/12/2019 09:00AM

At St. Paul's School, students thrive in a supportive and challenging environment, surrounded by expert faculty who foster remarkable relationships. A core element of the St. Paul's Middle School experience is the advisory program, which fosters connections forged between teachers and students.

The Middle School advisory program allows students to listen, laugh, and learn with caring and dedicated classmates and teachers. As the cornerstone of our character education efforts, the advisory program helps these thoughtful young men pursue truth, knowledge, excellence, faith, compassion, and integrity. Through intentional lessons that are responsive to issues in our local and global communities, students routinely discuss how to be kind, respectful, and responsible classmates and friends. At the same time, advisors facilitate activities that allow boys to develop skills related to communication, resilience, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. And, of course, boys also have the chance to have fun and play with their peers.

While many advisory lessons take place in the classroom, advisors also frequently take advantage of the many opportunities our beautiful campus has to offer. It's not unusual to see students and advisors engaged in meaningful and fun discussions in the Nature Center, ropes course, library, Community Garden, or Athletic Center. This allows our boys to explore interests they may have not yet experienced and appreciate the hard work and natural gifts in themselves and others.
